Everything You Need to Know About the NPCs of Stardew Valley

Abigail

The six Stardew Valley bachelorettes all have distinct personalities and Abigail is no exception. She lives with her parents, general store owner Pierre and gardener Caroline, both of which have a hard time understanding why she likes to dye her hair and hang out in graveyards. Abigail loves video games, autumn, and cats, though Pierre is allergic. She has an interest in the occult and desperately wants to explore the local mines.

Abigail’s room is full of Nintendo Easter eggs including a Chrono Trigger poster and a console that looks like a Super Nintendo. She has a beloved hamster named David and she is taking classes at an online college. Like all other marriageable candidates, she has two, four, six, eight, ten, and fourteen heart events. In her two-heart event, she invites you to play Prairie King with her in her room.

She has a lewd sense of humor, which you see if you successfully beat the level in her two-heart event where she talks about your talent with a “joystick.” She is in a band with her best friends Sam and Sebastian where she plays the drums. Outside of the band, she also plays the flute, which she sometimes does by the lake.

Abigail is an interesting NPC and an amazing bachelorette. It is not unbelievable that she would stay in Pelican Town with you if you choose to romance her. In her dialogue for receiving a liked gift, she will say, “Thanks! This looks delicious.” She will say this whether or not you give her food, which attracts a lot of attention but her love of amethyst makes her easy to give gifts to with the help of a crystalarium.

Gus

Gus is the owner of the Stardrop Saloon where he works noon to midnight seven days a week unless you have unlocked the Ginger Island resort. He only has one friend in town, Pam, but he recognizes Clint as one of his best customers and he employs Emily as a part-time barmaid. Gus doesn’t have a family in Pelican Town and lives alone behind the saloon. His birthday is Summer 8th and most of his loved items are food such as escargot, fish tacos, tropical curry, and oranges. He also has an affinity for diamonds. If you wish to befriend him earlier in the game, he likes daffodils.

Gus doesn’t have much drama, at least that we know of, and he only has four heart events. His three-heart event is a letter, his four and five-heart events are cut-scenes, and his seven-heart cutscene is another letter. He typically shops at Pierre’s or looks through the pantry in the completed community center before work.

Gus is a breath of fresh air between the secrets and sadness of the other NPCs and players can tell that Gus loves his job. His tasks on the community board are mostly asking you to find him an ingredient for a new recipe he wants to cook up. He cares for his friend Pam but doesn’t overstep, and he sets hot meals out for Linus so no one in Pelican Town goes hungry. He has proven himself to be a kind, gentle soul who knows what he wants.
